Eligibility

The AIDA's mission is to promote economic diversity, quality employment opportunities and to broaden the tax base of the Town of Amherst and Village of Williamsville in order to reduce the tax burden on homeowners, while helping to maintain and enhance a high quality living environment. This is accomplished by working with private companies and developers on projects that add new taxable value and employment to the community. Our approach is to provide tailored solutions necessary to successfully overcome financial or regulatory impediments to implementing projects.

If you are considering a project, we strongly recommend contacting us to determine eligibility and possible economic incentives. Generally, projects that include investment by manufacturing, logistics, back-office (finance & insurance related), research & development, and technology operations are eligible to apply for assistance.  Mixed used projects meeting comprehensive plan and providing community benefits are also generally eligible.

Projects that do not fall into one of these previously described sectors, such as medical services, retail and lodging may be eligible if it can satisfy statutory requirements. Further details are included in the Countywide Eligibility document below.
